Another Tutu Shot

    Newer Older

This one didn't make the cut, but it does a good job of showing the tutu. It's made from 10 yards of tulle, 5 white and 5 yellow. I kept them folded, like on the bolt, and lay them on top of eachother. I set my zig zag stich to be super wide and long, then stitched across the top length couching a long piece of yarn as I went. I then divided the tulle into 1/4's and marked. I made a waistband, divided that into 1/4's and matched it up with the tulle. To gather, just pull the yarn. Pin liberally (or not, just eyeball it, there is so much fabric that you can't really goof up unless you miss stiching a large portion) and stitch down. Finish your waistband (I did it by machine, sloppily). Where the tulle is still folded, just cut and your tutu will now be 8, seperated layers, thick. Fluff and futz with to make more puffy. My sash is just 1/2 yard of nylon netting cut in 1/2 and tied around my waist in a big bow.

It's time for me to go to school, I'll edit these directions later today to be more clear!

    :)

Yeah, I think I'm going to make hers with elastic. She's two, so ease of removal is key.

That's not a tutu, but it's still an awesome picture.
