South Dakota, the east entrance of Badlands National Park at sunset. The day had been very cloudy with a lot of snow falling all day. Just at sunset, the clouds to the west broke. The colors are the result of the sunset refracting through the still falling snow.

Out for a Sunday drive in the middle of nowhere South Dakota when we ran across this old Ford F-1 pickup truck rusting away in a field, not a building or person in sight. Finding abandoned vehicles like this always make me wonder about their story. What roads had they traveled and sights had they visited? How did they get here? Does someone still own this vehicle and do they ever think about it fondly?

Antelope Canyon is, in my opinion, one of the most magical places on earth. The light, shadow and fantastic shapes combine to create a photographers paradise. Here you can see three of the shafts of light, and the spectacular glow they impart, that makes this place world famous. If you look closely you can see the sand streaming in from above as a huge sandstorm blows in the desert above.
