Devil's Garden Trail by maclobster

Devil's Garden Trail

Near Moab Utah, you will find Arches National Park. At the end of a side road leading north within the park, you will find the trail that leads to the "Devil's Garden".

Birkenau by maclobster

Birkenau

Leaving their life that had meaning and freedom and entering a place that was designed for oppression and death. My wife and I visited Auschwitz and Birkenau last summer and were very moved. Not a pleasant place to visit, but I think an important place to visit and learn from. The "Arbeit Macht Frei" sign was recently stolen and recovered from Auschwitz.

I tried to get across the idea of the transition from life to death with the gradient to b&w.

Delicate Arch 1 by maclobster

Delicate Arch 1

I wanted to take a photograph of Delicate Arch but I wanted to do something a little different from the usual angle that people use and this is the result. I had to use a little patience and wait for people to vacate the arch itself. It sure is a popular destination!

UBC Sunset by maclobster

UBC Sunset

I was feeling sluggish and in need of burning off a calorie or three so I headed up the blue trail in the UBC (University of British Columbia) Research Forest with the goal of going up to the lookout. By the time I got there and had a cup of tea, the sun was on its way down and I thought, sunset shots! This is a blend of a couple of exposures. I am lucky to have such a great place so close to home.

Lake Powell by maclobster

Lake Powell

View On Black
"Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River, straddling the border between Utah and Arizona (most of it, along with Rainbow Bridge, is in Utah). It is the second largest man-made reservoir in the United States behind Lake Mead, storing 24,322,000 acre feet (30 km³) of water when full. Lake Powell was created by the flooding of Glen Canyon by the controversial Glen Canyon Dam, which also led to the creation of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, a popular summer destination." - wikipedia
