@ Meryddian - I have no clue, I don't think they even had a banner. I just remember shooting the crowd then turning around and seeing Anakin Skywalker in my face being followed by the troopers haha

I expect they are part of the 501st Legion (http://www.501st.com/ ). They are a group of Star Wars fans who dress as characters and raise money for charities and appear at events.

I'm surprised they are allowed to wander around with blasters in this day and age.

To answer a couple questions - We're the 501st, a costuming group that does imperial costumes - our banner was on the trucks. We do a lot of charity for kids and things like this. I'm the trooper with the Irish flag on my thighplate, three back.

Jeditriolobite - thank you for letting everyone and I know what was going on. I was working on some shots of the crowd, and when I turned around I must have missed all the banners (thats why I am showing this photo, no photojournalistic worth to my clients). You guys really got a good response.

I find it amazing and generally positive that no one wrote a comment that this was completely disrespectful. I don't think that is was intended to be disrespectful.

Still, would this have gone over well at a 4th of July parade? Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade? Cinco de Mayo? I don't know.

The Irish are intelligent good sports, but they have standards too.

I have Irish Great-grandparents and I think the photo is brilliant.
