Geotagging Photos in FlickrExport3

Geotagging Photos in FlickrExport3

Photos are associated with location via timestamps. So make sure the clock on your camera is set correctly (the GPS device gets time info from the satellite).

Another OSX tool worth mentioning is GPS Photo Linker which adds location to the photos without flickr

Using GPS Track Logs with FlickrExport3

Using GPS Track Logs with FlickrExport3

FlickrExport is Fraser Speirs excellent iPhoto/Aperture Export plugin for Flickr.

FlickrExport 3 is currently beta, you can get it here
connectedflow.com/flickrexport/beta/index.php

It allows – among a ton of other things – to associate GPS points with your photos. The jpg files (or the EXIF data) will not be changed but you will be able to locate your photos on the flickr map

GPS Babel settings

GPS Babel settings

Not only will GPS Babel be able to read the data from the Garmin eTrex H using MacOSX it also converts into the desired file format in one go and allows filtering the data while doing so.

Watch the settings above carefully.

GPX XML can be read by flickrexport 3

Also available is Google's KML for Google Earth or Goolge Maps. See here for howto use it directly with Google Maps (Google Earth is way too slow on my iMac G5)

Please support GPS Babel

Please support GPS Babel

I tried several programs that should be able to read data from the Garmin eTrex via the Serial-USB adaptor but only GPS Babel did the job.

Download the Free Software

BTW: This may also be valuable for Linux and Windows users
