Geiranger is a few miles south-east of Ålesund, which means driving quite a bit along narrow, winding roads with 50-100m drops straight into the sea on one hand and a rock wall on the other. It was pretty gray and gloomy when we embarked, so I found B/W was most suitable.

After a couple of hours we reached Geiranger, or rather, the approaches to the village/small-town named Geiranger, same as the fjord. Weather still gray and dreary, but my brother does some posin' from a lookout point ;)

Then suddenly, in a matter of minutes the gray skies part and blue sky greets us. Notice the cruise ship, a great number visit Geiranger in the summer months.

This however, is no cruise ship, but the "Hurtigruta", basically a large local boat that travel all the way from Bergen in the south-west to Kirkenes by the Russian border in the far north. For many years these boats was the lifeline of the people along the coast, as roads where scarce. These days a lot of tourists travel with these boats and it's a fantastic journey up along the coast
