New Chicago Morning Beverage

Rick Bayless recently opened up Xoco, a bakery and tortas order-at-the-counter type of joint. This is my morning beverage today: a chocolate cafe con leche.

I apologize for the pile of napkins in this shot. Believe it or not this was the least uncluttered composition I could work out at the high table with tons of stuff in the background.

Greenhouse Door

This is a detail of the door of David's greenhouse, on our deck (top of the garage). When David built this greenhouse, he bought a used, many-paned door. So this had a story before us. The rusty knob and the algae are on the inside of the door--the side exposed to the humidity and warmth of the orchids inside.
