value added fruit?

value added fruit? by lyricsboy.
As soon as I came in the door to the Edgewood Kroger, I was faced with this beautiful display. It was all I could do not to drown in value.

A food product becomes value added when you do something to it that consumers perceive as a time saver. So fruit that is already cut up saves you time and can demand a higher price. Ever wondered why sun-dried tomatoes are SO damn expensive?

It's weird that they put that on the sign though, I've really only seen it used as an industry term.
