A good portion of the spinach is bolting now and I had to cut a couple flower stalks off of the onions this morning too. Even with the late start the season flys by.

The parsley has thus far refused to sprout in its own bed, apparently only a sidewalk crack will do.

Since I mentioned learning the hard way about common invasive plants recently, I snapped a pic of what became of my poor parents lawn when I went to do some hottubbing with my mom tonight. This is oregano and yarrow run amuck.

Proof that I finally tried my pickled asparagus tonight, after friends coaxed me to try it. Fresh it was crisp, and here it's rinsed and roasted. Served with a salad of backyard greens and edible flowers.

Meet Fluffy McPuffersons, the newest addition to the homestead. She's a tiny 8 week old blue french angora who comes from excellent fiber stock and will mama some meat litters for me when she's old enough.

Oh Steins, why did you have to have gardening decor that so perfectly matched my living room hung up next to the break room where it would tempt me daily...sigh.

Another first! Fresh picked baby greens and spinach from the backyard for the first homegrown salad of the year served with my second batch of kombucha flavored with my homecanned strawberry kiwi lemonade concentrate.

The 3 hot weather crops are tucked in for the night. Wondering if I should run to the corner for a strawberry tarp? The just look too happy to be frosted.

Another cool, overcast, rainy day here with a possible gardeners "f word" in the forecast tonight (FROST!!!!). So I'm worrying over my plants...I did such a good job seed starting this year and don't want to lose them :(

The new bean beds were prepped and planted tonight. I took out a large enough volume of grass and roots that the whole area got filled back in with some topsoil as well.

The front yard is starting to come together. Used my employee discount for a couple new apple trees, added a little bay laurel, moved the lovage against the house, and am now busy filling in the low spot where the old hedge was with top soil and mulch.

This isn't the gardens prettiest time of year. The rabbits bedding gets dumped on them all winter long to be turned under in spring. All the straw and droppings are excellent soil amendments though.

This morning is wonderful and warm. Birds are chirping, the cats are in the garden soaking up the sun, Mittens is in binky town in the rabbit run, and the lovage here is breaking ground.
