Interesting Snippets: the book

Ta da... after a stupidly long delay, finally the book is ready. :-)

Ironically the hold up wasn't getting the content together, it was finding a cover image and binding that I liked - it took me 3 goes to get right!

It contains highlights from the first year of this slide-set, tarted up a little (matching fonts, colours)... You can see a preview and order a copy here: www.lulu.com/content/1165131

The price is £10, which covers Lulu's charge for publishing (£8.61) plus an additional £1.39 which I'm donating to the Battery Hen Welfare Trust, one of my favourite UK charities. (http://www.thehenshouse.co.uk/)

Thanks to everyone who asked me to create this - I wouldn't have got round to it otherwise, and I'm thrilled with how it's turned out.

Thanks again too to everyone who let me use their images.

Now I have to get cracking on the slides for next years issue!

PS: If you're look at the preview at Lulu's site you'll see the images look a bit pixelly - don't worry, they come out great in the printed version.

Juicebox... your photo is used virtually identically to how it was in the slideset here: www.flickr.com/photos/lynetter/453858891/in/s et-720575941...
The only change was to the font/size of words to make the quote fit on 2 lines rather than having 1 word go over to the 3rd line. The photo in the book (as on the slide) has the link to your Flickr URL at the top of it visibly in the book so it's clearly credited. Oh, and like all the slides in the book it has a white border around it (so I didn't need to fret about getting the images to bleed to the edge of the page). The slide with your photo is on the left side (p23); and Lallallala's slide is on the right (p24)www.flickr.com/photos/lynetter/188843331. They go really well together, not only in topic but also similar colouring/content of photos. I can email you a photo tomorrow if you like of the book open to the page with your slide, send me your email via flickr mail if you want it. :-)

This whole project perfectly demonstrates everything the web is about. access, communication, efficiency of production and social networking. harvard business school should write this project up as an example of how to take information and create value in the proverbial information economy.

Another update: as of Monday Dec 3rd the total ordered stood at 82 copies, so that's an additional 40 copies sold in the past month. Yay yay! I've just send a further donation to the battery hen welfare trust of £55.60. Some chickens will have a happy xmas. :-)

Update: as of Saturday Jan 19th the total ordered stood at 87 copies. So sadly only another 5 copies sold, but then I expected it would slow down after Xmas. Still, hopefully a few more will trickle in, would be lovely to reach the 100 copies sold mark.
