I was introduced the cycle touring in 1995, when my American aunt and I cycled the Northern Tier route. Being from South Africa, when my aunt asked me to cycle from Washington, I thought DC, little knowing there was another one on the west coast! That summer I got hooked on cycle touring, and have been touring ever since. This year I turned 40, and took 9 months off to cycle the world. I was fortunate to have 9 friends and family joining me for different stages. This picture was taken with my 2 aunts (from SA & Maine) when we went to visit my uncle in Hamburg, Germany. He decided to cycle 7km with us, to get us back on track, but ended up cycling 70km with us before taking the train home again. What a way for siblings to take a trip down memory lane.
