Earth Hour 2008, downtown Toronto panoramaZoom in to see a fellow enjoying his big screen TV, with all the kitchen lights on... ![]() This is a stitched panoramic view of the downtown Toronto skyline from the vantage point of my condominium tower's roof, facing directly north. It was taken over the course of a couple of minutes during the height (depths?) of Earth Hour 2008.
This photo has notes. Move your mouse over the photo to see them.
Although most of the city continues to be lit (the sky glow to the northeast stands out in particular), there are some noteworthy participants visible here: the CN Tower, the Rogers Centre, the Fairmont Royal York, Yonge-Dundas Square, and the ClearChannel billboards along the Gardiner Expressway (sorry, Rick Mercer!). The Bank of Montreal and TD Canada Trust also turned off their rooftop beacons. Be sure to check out the larger image to see more detail! A comparison photo from Monday evening is also available. If you are interested in a print of this photo, please send me FlickrMail here, or e-mail me at the address shown in the image itself. The resolution of the full panorama (not posted here!) is suitable for close viewing reproduction of over 6 feet in width.
