better already![]() ![]() The day of Sage's vet appointment, it was as if part of the darkened skin on his nose had sloughed off. By the day after, when this photo was taken, the darkness was gone almost entirely. Weird.
He's down to just over 9 pounds (from 14 to 15 during his heyday) and despite enthusiasm for dog food, he's barely been touching his kitty kibble. The vet recommended trying different flavors of Fancy Feast (of all things) to stimulate his appetite. The first few cans I opened, he was nearly climbing up my legs to get at the food. Lack of appetite? Hah. Except now that the novelty of the wet food has worn off, he's not really that interested. I tried three different flavors yesterday, each of which resulted in him turning up his nose at me then walking away to curl up in his bed. (The dogs, however, were thankful for his leftovers.) Two interesting things from his vet visit: his blood tests came back almost perfect and the vet thinks he's probably closer to 17-20 years old instead of the 14-15 I'd thought all along. (I've had him since January of 1996, he was a stray and of formidable size then, actually.) The vet visit was very reassuring, now if I can just get him to keep eating.
