These are little "hugging" picks from Sanrio that are designed to hug the food you stick them into, like quail eggs, cocktail sausages, etc. Amazingly, I found these for US$1 at Goodwill in San Francisco (new, in the package)! I never would have predicted finding Japanese bento supplies at a thrift store.
