Machu Picchu is a pre-Columbian city created by the Inca Empire. Machu
Picchu is located above the Urubamba Valley in Peru, about 70 km (44
mi) northwest of Cusco (Alt 2,430 m). It was brought to international
attention by archaeologist Hiram Bingham in 1911
