Older daughter turned 7th earlier this week. Today she celebrated with her friends enjoying a guided educational tour of the fabulous “Irving house”. 10 children were separated in 3 groups and taken around 14 rooms of this 3 storey house. Hour and a half spent exploring past were also loved by all the parents that joined us.
Irving House has a lot of history to offer. The house was built for
Scottish-born paddle wheeler Captain William Irving who was an
important figure in the lower Fraser River trading industry in the
late 1800’s -Gold Rush.
This handsome Victorian-era dwelling is the oldest intact house in Metro Vancouver, completed in 1865. It was built with California redwood timbers in the Carpenter -Gothic Revival style and has some features reminiscent of architecture from Irving’s homeland, Scotland.
