BluebirdNB2 20090329L 047pe3

BluebirdNB2 20090329L 047pe3 by lucycat.
The last time I looked, there were no eggs, but this morning I braved the invisible clouds of tree pollen and was very surprised to find Mrs. Bluebird sitting on the nest when I open up the nest box. She gave me a dirty look and fled, Mr. Bluebird flew over to deliver a few choice curses and I found five eggs there!

I like to chronicle the laying of the eggs one by one, and that way be able to calculate the probable hatching date. Oh well, I'll just designate today as day one for the countdown. Dang tree pollen!

Can understand your reluctance to go outside. Linda seems to have developed an allergy to alder pollen, and this time of year the windshield on the car's bright yellow every morning. Too bad you missed them being laid, but it's a great start to the year. I've loved following your successes, and they been plentiful.

Takeapic2 says: "can someone tell me why you all seem to find this pic good .what if the bird dont come back .after what seems continuous disturbance.no dout pics of the chicks will follow .is it worth it for the sake of getting rave reviews on hear ,birds are under a lot of strees this time of year .leave nest boxs alone ..well thats my take on it ... "

His take on it is ignorant. The bluebirds most definitely do come back and in the 10 years that I have had bluebird nest boxes, they have had a great success rate at fledging their young. Takeapic2 could take a look around my collection of nest box photos, dating back to 2004, for the evidence.

Bluebirds are very tolerant of nest box monitoring. Do an internet search on "bluebird nest box monitoring". Do some reading. I see you are in the UK. You don't have bluebirds there. I agree that there are many birds who would be harmed by monitoring, and it is certainly good to avoid their nests. However, I am done with your abuse and accusations.

Takeapic2, I suggested that you try an internet search on "bluebird nest box monitoring." It appears that you have not bothered to do that. I do find your comments abusive, and I really have nothing further to say to you.

I'm afraid Watter bug and Takeapic2 don't think before they post.

If you can't be bothered to do the tiniest bit of research before spouting nonsense, I've done it for you:

Bluebirding for Beginners
For many, bluebirding is more than a hobby, it is a way of life. But even the most seasoned veterans had to start somewhere. Below are links which are designed to inform the novice bluebirder about proper nest box monitoring. Keep in mind, even experienced bluebird monitors make their share of mistakes, so don't be discouraged if you make mistakes—trial and error is a great way to learn!

Okey-dokie, takeapic2. I've given you the benefit of the doubt, but I just said in my comment just above that I never use flash. Apparently you are not interested in a real dialog since you ignore what I say, so now I am blocking you. I can't say it's been fun, but I have responded to your inquiries and criticisms in the hope that you were sincere and it could be a learning experience. C'est la vie!
