you're right. sugar is a challenging subject to shoot. but not to bake with.

did you make chocolate chip cookies afterwards? apple crisp?

I love the DoF on this one. It really draws your eye to the sugar in the bowl.

This is a great shot. The detail in the sugar is perfect, the scattering of sugar around the bowl adds character without distracting from the main subject, and the contrast between the dark counter and white bowl and medium tones in the sugar is really nice.
