Montepulciano es una comuna italiana de la región de la Toscana, provincia de Siena, con cerca de 13.870 habitantes. Se extiende por un área de 165 km², con una densidad de población de 84 hab/km². Es fronteriza con Castiglione del Lago (PG), Chianciano Terme, Chiusi, Cortona (AR), Pienza, y Torrita di Siena.
Es es lugar donde nació el poeta italiano Angelo Poliziano el 14 de julio de 1454.
La calle principal de Montepulciano se alarga durante 11 kilómetros y medio desde la Porta al Prato hasta la Piazza Grande en lo alto de la colina. Entre sus lugares de interés están el Duomo, o catedral de Santa Maria Assunta, construida entre 1594 y 1680, que incluye una obra maestra de la Escuela sienesa, un gran tríptico con la Asunción de la Virgen obra de Taddeo di Bartolo fechada en 1401.
