Moonset at Gemini

Moonset at Gemini

The moon setting between constellations Orion and Gemini.

The bright red star on the right side of the Moon is u-Geminorum a M3III red giant star.

Photos taken every 2 minutes, the moon changes color as it gets lower due to atmospheric effects.

Moon and Clouds

Moon and Clouds

On a cloudy night a small break let me take this moody shot of the Moon at 41% illumination. This waxing crescent is on the way to a partial lunar eclipse on June 4th, 2012.

Venus in the Glow of Dusk

Venus in the Glow of Dusk

Planet Venus shines in the red glow of dusk a few minutes after sunset. The thin crescent moon was also setting on the West.

A Partial Eclipse with Clouds

A Partial Eclipse with Clouds

This time is not the moon but a very thick layer of clouds what obscures the Sun making it look like a partial solar eclipse.

This is a real single shot, I was really surprised to see the sun half obscured by clouds I think this is only possible at sunset or sunrise when the light of the sun is diminished by the atmosphere.
