I'd like to get a dog this spring and I've been reading a lot of good things about greyhounds. However, my partner is gone nearly all summer doing field work and I do want a dog that is a bit of a "guard" dog. Not in the sense that it would attack strangers or be terribly threatening but at least will be loyal and alert and give some warning of a stranger approaching the door. In that regard, it seems that GH aren't the best breed, they're too lazy.
Any comments/suggestions you can offer?
(As I'm writing this, my 2 year old daughter pointed at your photo and said, "Want to see the horse!")
