rockpool heart - detail

Imagine a beautiful summer day, hardly a whisper of breeze. The sea is calm and the rockpool waters lay still revealing their yield. Shells and pebbles in little nooks. Move a stone, what will you find?

Detail from one of my rockpool hearts. I love the concept of a rock pool full of surprises, flotsom, jetsom and treasures from nature. I'm pursuing this theme and love to make little hearts decorated with an ecclectic mix of found objects, stitch and text

I used heat distressed chiffons scrunched and layered to resembe seaweed, hand made paper, bits of torn vintage cotton crochet, limpet shells, beads, and lots of hand stitching, french knots, fly stitches and stitched text
