Vacationland

Vacationland

Formerly "Miller's Lakeside Motel" (and trailer park), but in more recent times, just a place of despair and disrepair.

Eak Ke

Eak Ke

The amazingly googie sign for Andy's Drive In, which has been around since 1951 or '52, depending on who you ask. Wish I would have had time to go back and see how it looked at night.

Blending is the secret

Blending is the secret

The famous Southgate Shopping Center as seen in the movie "Edward Scissorhands". I was so excited to see it was still there, in all it's googie glory. A truly amazing sign.

The $1 million shopping center opened Nov. 19, 1957, with 16 stores, including a department store, a hardware store, a shoe store, Woolworth's, a "Beauteria" and a Publix food store for the anchor.

Stay with me

Stay with me

So many elements in one sign. This must have been a stunner when new.

Hit the highway

Hit the highway

..though I'm not sure, I might have just kept traveling for another overnight spot.

Looked like a classic old two story motel, just worn out.
