Salt Lake Costume Company
Around for over 100 years, and supplying live theatre as well as costumes for Halloween & parties, SLCCo went away around 2005, as best as I can figure.
There's a new business in their building, and it's looking like they'll preserve the old sign... one of the coolest signs I've ever seen. Now, it they (the new bldg owners) *really* want to be cool, they'll refurbish the sign and relight it. Now *that* would be wonderful.

Samwibatt
We awoke on our first (and only) day in Utah and headed off to meet up with Samwibatt for breakfast. He had us meet at Big Ed's, and what a great choice! (what the heck was the name of that thing I had there?) A great breakfast that carried me through until dinner.
Our meeting was far too short, but I had to get going as I also had another meetup with firstyearta (Kenny) in Tooele, as well as trying to get in the Lincoln Hwy, and sign hunting in SLC too. We also needed to make it to Ely, NV before it got too late to find a room.
We chatted and had a great time, then Sam drew me a map route to take me past some of the cool signs of SLC. Rand-McNally couldn't have done better, since it was a perfect easy route that took me past some great stuff without confusion. (and all the one-ways in SLC *can* get confusing!)
For some odd reason, I never took a single photo of Kenny, and I'm not sure why. I guess we were too busy chattering. Then I accidentally left my laptop at his place. 15 miles away, it stuck me... the laptop! (laugh) We turned around, and he knew exactly why I was back. ;-)
I really need to get back to Utah and spend more time with both "Sam" and Kenny. Both great folks, and the highlight of my all too short time in Utah.
