      this is magnificent....the colors....

do you prefer the bronica sq-a or the yashica mat 124? are you using the metered ae prism for the bronica or a separate light meter? looking to jump to MF :)

The two cameras are quite different and I love both (I don't have the Bronica anymore because I bought a Hasselblad). The Yashica is a good entry into the medium format world, it's relatively cheap, produces great images, it's beautiful and I love using it. It was my first mf camera, I will never sell it.:) It's much lighter than the Bronica, easier to carry around. However it can't compete with the modular construction of the Bronica, the interchangeable lenses, film holders, etc. The Bronica's image quality is also better, I used my SQ-A mostly with the metered ae prism.

      I hope that helps! :)

thanks for all your help :) i usually talk to a few flickr members about their experiences with the camera and i make the buy! i landed a yashica 124g. portability and weight do effect the amount of photos i will take with the camera and sort of how far i will go for it. Always shot primes on my slr's and never changed lenses too much. hopefully the cds meter in the 124g runs well. that bronica really is a beauty though, however excited to enjoy a waist level finder for my first time. do the zinc air battery replacement for the mercury cell work effectively? do you ever push your film past 400 speed?

you're welcome and congrats to your yashica 124g! the battery works fine for me. i'm using 400 or slower films with my yashica.
