I do all my shopping at Tesco..... infact just been this morning to do the weekly shop & to fill the car up with petrol..... I've often wondered what or if TESCO stands for anything........ a very nice sign by-the-way.

Tesco is short for "T.E. Stockwell & Cohen". Jack Cohen started a grocery stall when invalided after WW1, which eventually became a shop.

Tea merchant T.E. Stockwell did a deal with Cohen to sell his imported tea there, and they agreed on a name that would combine both their names - thus 'Tesco'!

A little bit of history. Very nice. And now to the present.

This Tesco is about to move 500 metres South.... before 2012!
