Mercury Plaza vs. Coliseum Mall (April, 2002)

Mercury Plaza vs. Coliseum Mall (April, 2002) by Look In The Tunk.
Scanned directly from my journal. This was either right before or right after Circuit City closed at Mercury Plaza, and when Barnes & Noble just opened at Coliseum Mall.

Now both of them are torn down and replaced. The Burlington Coat Factory at Mercury Plaza moved to the mall around 2003, and when the mall was torn down, it moved back to the ground the Mercury Plaza was back on.

Coliseum Mall went on to be the Peninsula Town Center.

Did they tear Barnes & Noble down in the renovation?

Thanks for posting this.

My mom was a big fan of both the Hampton HQ and Circuit City. That Mercury Plaza CC esp. I know when I visited and there was some gadget to be replaced, we'd go there. Had some odd Customer Service desk not far inside that front entrance, IIRC.

I remember when I was a wee tyke, that HQ at Mercury Plaza was a Montgomery Ward. As you mentioned, there has been some bizarre relocation shuffling.

MontgomeryWard (from Mercury Plaza) to Coliseum Mall
MontgomeryWard dies
Burlington(from Mercury Plaza) to the old MW at Coliseum Mall
Coliseum Mall dies
Burlington back to Mercury Plaza (in the exact spot of the original MontgomeryWard)

My head hurts.
