I always liked Farm Fresh (early indoctrination will do that). Cooler than Shaw's (a once proud chain in MA) after it was bought out by Albertsons.

It won't knock out Giant Open Air or Safeway in their heyday, but Farm Fresh is up there in my fave supermarket chains. Yeah, blend of fancy (Whole F. & TJoe, meh. . .) and store next door.

Nuff with my op-ed--how does the new Franklin compare to Smithfield?

Was Giant Open Air the same as that chain in the mid 80's, Giant that was in the hampton roads area? I remember that turned into Farm Fresh when I was very very little.

The CEO even mentioned in an article that Smithfield and Suffolk are aging locations. I think they've been around since the 1980's.

The Smithfield one shows up sometime in the mid to um late 80s. Out of town, just visiting by then. And graying gray matter. So, whoa, 20 years old roughly.

Going to Sickmalls to read about Franklin FFresh . . .
