the resurrection

after a long break (6 mounths) of note taking any in water shots because of a flooded nikonus V i have hit the water once again. stevemac (thank you) lent me a nikonus v after mine was flooded but i have not used it until now because there was some thing wrong with it, but a few days ago i had a genius idea of replacing the battery! i have shot 3 rolls over 3 mornings with one of my new favorite films kodak portra 400 VC. that is the appropriately named seadipper in the shot

.. Nice shot like. I was going to ask about the special hand swimming glove / "frogman" thing.. Did I miss a page in the evolution of swimming kit and technology? I've not seen those before, a simple looking invention that makes total sense. Do they have a name so I can google information to satisfy informational hunger?

Love the sunlight through the water surrounding seadipper's arm... but, don't you get cold there?!?

This is a really healthy practice I consider just for Super Humans... ;)

dorkasaurus_rex i use the nikonus v but thats a film camrea if you want digital i no that pantax and olimpus both do water proof camreas that are the same size as normal digital compact camreas

pstarr there made out of the same stuff as wet suits so yes, you can get little boots as well it makes a massive difference when the water is cold. but your water dose not get as cold as our water

    gorbot. celebrations, roses?

The gloves which are made of neoprene keep your hands warm and help you swim better. They are Speedo. Like this

the bay gets down to about 46*F of 8*C in the winter. that's pretty effing cold, limey.

  35. pstarr (67 months ago | reply)

san francisco bay gets down to about 46*F of 8*C in the winter. that's cold enough for me! how cold does brighton water get?

i wish the speedo ones covered your fingers. that's what gets the coldest on me. makes unlocking the car post swim a challenge sometimes.

  36. lomokev (67 months ago | reply)

pstarr i think ares gets done to 40*F and at that point we get a certificate from the club if we go in with out gloves. but i water gets a lat warmer than yours in the summer

I like this a lot. I am fan of shots taken in the water and i love how the elbow has made a frame for the sun to shine through the water canvas.

You can get neoprene webbed gloves like these which cover up your fingers and keep them warm. They are usually called surfing webs.
    www.majorsporty.com/ms/store/product_details. jsp?pid=8565...,

Lots of firms make them or you can have them made to measure by putting your hand on a piece of paper and drawing a line round, and sending it to someone who makes or repairs wet suits.

The closed ones are good for back stroke but not crawl or breast stroke. But when the sea gets below 10 it is too cold for crawl, I think.
