Antler Buttons

slightly grayer and more oblong.
Antler Buttons by LollyKnit.
Moose shed their antlers in the fall, and this artisan makes buttons from the antlers collected near his home in Newfoundland. (The moose sheds the antlers naturally - I made sure of it) I am planning to base a whole cardigan around these beauties.

perfect use of the word "rustic", as they truly are that! I got two sets... one is more circular, and you can see the others in the back, more oblong and a little darker. Thanks for the comment, C.

Nature inspired knitting is so cool. I have some similar bottons from Alaska and have been trying to figure out what to do with them. I want to use them for something special. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do!

They are beautiful, and a great idea :) have they been coated or sealed in some way? I look forward to seeing what you choose to put them on

Thank you so much everyone! I am quite excited about using them :)

I do not see any noticeable seal or coating on them... they seem to be pretty natural.
I only saw them in one place - the craft shop in Yarmouth, NS (Hands On Crafts), but they may be other places too. Are you planning a trip up there? biking? ooh, so fun!

So cool! And so good to know that they're shed naturally--I've been so frustrated looking through "horn" buttons, not wanting to put anything related to a violent animal death on my handknits--great find, Lolly! :)
