365.026 My Key

365.026 My Key

****Just to let everyone know: I am no longer doing 365. My home was recently broken into. My camera equipment and laptop among other items were taken. Therefore, I can no longer take pictures consistently.
Sorry for the letdown. I am hoping that knowing all of the serial numbers and a few customizations I have done to some of the valuables will make them easier to locate if turned into pawn shops.
It may be quite some time before I am able to take pictures. Possibly a year. :(
When I am able to do so again, I will continue my 365 where I left off.***

*life goings on for this day are here

"Attention,
my dears,
let me present to you this boy.
He is sixteen and he wants some answers.
He is each of us.
I mean you.
I mean me.
It is not enough to read Hesse
and drink clam chowder
we must have the answers.
The boy has found a gold key
and he is looking for what it will open."

This is an excerpt from Ann Sextons poetry collection Transformations. If you like fairy tales and are the least bit inclined to poetry: READ THIS! I am going to do a series based on the poems from this collection. These poems are based the Brothers Grim fairy tales. PURE BRILLIANCE!!!!

This is my "gold key". Now that I have found it, I must know what it opens.

I consider this collection to be opened by a the key of the poetry and that ever-so-important key of light and photography.

Sexton, Ann. "The Gold Key." Transformations. 1971. 1-2. Print.

Although this is not my 365 shot for October 19, I loved it too much not to include it. I took about a billion photographs, and loved them all to much. If I had a pro account, I would share more. However, this one just had to be shared.

It was a rough, but exciting day. I had to ride a city bus across town for a pre-employment drug test. I wore boots with a 2 inch heal. That would be no problem, except I ended up walking a total of about 4 miles in them.

I then went home and decided to get dressed up for my Sociology of Gender class. (Yes, I know the irony of getting all feminine for such a class.) I decided to wear these 6-inch heals that I have not worn in a very long time. They have a cute little peep toe. That cute little peep toe just about cut my not-so-cute 3rd toe off. I now have a HUGE and quite painful blister. This is not including the other 4 or 5 blisters.

I used to wear those cute heels all the time with no problems. I guess some hears just aren't made to last. Goodbye Steve Maddens.

Well, after getting home all bruised and tired, I figured out that I have a 2-page religion film-paper to write, a book to finish reading, another book to start, 2 sociology chapters to read, and some reading for my religion class. I promised myself at the beginning of the semester that I would not procrastinate. I need to stop promising myself things.

I GOT THE JOB!!!!1!11!!

I am now an employee at Sears Portrait Studio in Athens, Georgia. I am so excited. I needed this job in order to stay in Athens, and God has blessed me with a job that I will love. I now have an amazing opportunity to learn more about the business side of photography.

It is only a seasonal job though. There is a slight chance they will hire me permanently after the holidays, but I will probably start looking for another job just in case.

I am just SOOOOO excited...and blessed.

A little side note: On the bus ride over there, a very cute guy told me that I have "cute eyes". I have never heard them called "cute", but it was definitely a much appreciated compliment.

On Sunday, I convinced myself that I had nothing else to work on. So...I watched Paranormal Activity. I have been wanting to see it forever and now it is on Netflix. :D

Well, I don't normally get scared by horror movies. I really wasn't scared by this one. However afterward, I got a little freaked out every time my house would creak. It's an old house, so that was quite often.

I was also inspired to take this photograph. After going through all of my photos, I realized that this one reminded me of "The Ring". That is the only horror movie that has truly scared me. I am getting scared just looking at the picture. :(

My review of Paranormal Activity: Pretty good. The acting was a little fake in parts, especially hers. The ending was just LAME! Worth a watch though.

*I know I am like 5 days behind. I have been taking photos, I just haven't been able to upload them. I will finish updating tomorrow morning. Here is my shot from Saturday though.

I spent the whole day chillin' out. I actually got a lot done...NOT!

I was so nervous about my interview on Monday and spent the whole day updating photos from the past few days.

I also have lost my tripod adapter!! :(
So, my self-portraits will be hand-held until I can find the time to clean my room.
