My first plants

by Lobsel Vith

This is the story so far.

Back in May around the 10th I planted a few seeds withought germanating straigh into a 4 foot deep manure pile. The manure is from my moms organicly feed lamas and cows and is 4 years old. I then germinated several more seeds and on the 15th planted several more in beds I only cruedly cleared and removed present roots. While makeing a new bed my paper towel with the remaining 10 seeds blew away scatering all the seed over my vegable garden. Oh well. A few weeks go by and the germanated seeds start to come up but no action in the manure pile. Around victoria day my step mom came over and we scraped off the top foot or so of soil and weeds with her tractor, from the vegtable garden. we then moved the entire manure pile ( 8 bucket loads ) to the garden. I then rototilled 6 passes around 18 inches. A week goes by and now a lot of the sprouts have been eaten :( . Returning to where the manure pile was to plant squash and pumkin I spot a sprout growing happily in the remaining manure but 5 feet away from where it was planted. More time goes by and I keep an eye on the new sprout, and by now only one planted sprout survives. A little more than a month from the start of all this, I am out watering my garden to look over by our 60 year old asparagus patch and spot a plant growing and its like a foot tall and quite nice looking. With new eyes I return to the manure pile to then spot growing a full 10 feet away from there original home two more plants. Unfortunately one of these was bush hogged later and the other one I identified as a male and removed him but as best I can tell the remaining three I belive to be female. Take a look at all the photos and any comments would be great.
