Cedarville, CA, circa 1972 or 1973.

According to the note written on the back (in my once-very-tidy elementary school printing) I was playing "Take Me Home, Country Roads." Sounds about right for the time.

Note that I still have the same haircut. Also, I sure was a scrawny little kid.

Doesn't do it justice.

The view from the neurosurgeon's office. Hello, ocean! It really was a lovely view. And, after nearly two years of messing around with physical therapy, painkillers, and chiropractors, I am on my way to getting a definitive answer as to whether or not I need surgery. I'm hoping for "not."

ETA: this sounds a whole lot worse than it is. I've got a herniated disc in my neck, probably caused by decades of making my living hunched over a computer. And messed up nerves in my elbows, thanks to the same.
