the other side

chester always steals my seat.
I have a very similar one that was picked up at an estate sale.

this one is so beautiful.
i am impressed by this setup.
the other side by little birds.
this used to be my kids' art area, but i kicked them out.

i picked up the vintage ironing board at a yard sale 5-6 years ago and am happy to be finally using it. i got a nice thickly padded cotton duck cover for it.

I agree with the others, the ironing board is great. I just saw one in another photo yesterday and felt really excited because they remind me of my granny's...

thanks! i love the ironing board because it's become a piece of furniture that i just leave out all the time.

my kids' art stuff was moved to my daughter's room.

on the other side of the room is my standing height work table with a lot of my supplies below. i also have a closet in this room where i store stuff.

it's all cleaned up now...ready for me to make a big mess!

And that pile in the basket that could be stuff that needs (or ought) to be ironed doesn't look like a chore you are avoiding. Hmmm, will you redesign my space, please?

I can't believe I have ironing board envy... And not just the board, but the space to have it set up -free to be used and looked at. Functional and beautiful.

the light is so pretty and I especially like your basket of things to iron (I assume that's what it is - I have one too!)

where did you find the cover? I'm sure it is somewhere obvious, but you know...

happy creating!

that ironing board looks so nice, not hideous like the ones you can buy at the store now. also, my cat seymour always steals my seat too in my studio! i don't have the guts to pick him up and fling him off, so i just pretend like i'm going to sit on top of him and he gets up really fast!

Such an inspiring room, Stephanie.
When I saw this picture last week, I thought to myself, "Now, I would NEVER be so lucky to come across an ironing board like that!" and, besides, I finally broke down last month and bought the cheapest one I could get at Target.
And then, yesterday, I walked into the thrift store and there it was, one like yours, only the legs are painted black, and for the same price as the one at Target. It has a stained cotton duck cover, too, that will need replacing.
Why is it, after going all these years (12? 15?) without a full-sized ironing board, that suddenly I find that I need two? One for in the house, and one for out in my craft room, so that only the iron itself needs to be lugged back and forth, rather than the ironing board or project being worked on.
I know. Justification.

Knitting Iris: You could pick up another iron at the thrift, and no lugging. ;)

Jeebus, that board is so beautiful, like an Eames dowel-base. I want one, as I finally just picked up an iron at the thrift myself!!
