Look what I got today!! :) It is a Minolta Hi-Matic 9, made in 1966. It actually has a VERY similar feel to my Chaika.. which was produced in the same time period.
The Minolta used to belong to my grandfather, just as the Canon t-50 did. :) My understanding is that he used this camera exclusively until the 80s when he got the T-50, which is the same camera my parents had at the time... (I also have theirs. Of course I do..)
The Minolta is pretty impressive! It has fully automatic metreing and aperture, if you want, or you can do it fully manual. It's a rangefinder that also lets you know when you're in focus. Pretty slick! And, because it was my grandfather, it still has the original case that is in pristine condition.
Also- I was pretty surprised when I opened it up and found a roll of fully exposed film in it!! Thankfully, I did not expose the film. :-) (I opened it in a light bag, just in case) I'll be dropping that off at my local lab to see what's in it. Imagine!! I'll be sure to share with you what I found on that roll, if anything turns out.
