Doi Suthep Waterfall

Part of the 2006 CONTACT Toronto Photography Festival, May 1-31 2006.

Featuring photographs by Maggie McAdorey and Lisa Santonato.
Curated by Lisa Santonato.

A winter vacation coincided with one of the largest natural disasters in recent history. An unplanned detour led two women to Thailand’s Koh Phi Phi, where more than 25% of the population and 70% of businesses were washed away with the tsunami of December 26th, 2004.

Juxtaposing Thailand’s serene beauty with the eerie stillness of empty beaches, Greetings From Thailand 2005 reveals a destroyed tourist haven that is slowly being transformed by an influx of international volunteers.

Proceeds from the sale of all images will be donated to the Phi Phi Island Tsunami Relief Fund via the grass-roots aid organization, Hi Phi Phi International.
