Discovery Field Trip Program at Birmingham Botanical Gardens
Justin Moore, a second-grader at Hemphill Elementary School enjoyed getting a close look at nature through binoculars at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens which served its 85,000th student on Monday, September 19, 2011, as it entered its 13th year of the Discovery Field Trip program. Based on the Alabama Course of Study in Science, Discovery Field Trips serving grades K-6th grade let kids interact with nature at no cost. The gardens have several different programs including Alabama Woodlands, George Washington Carver and The secret Life of Trees to name a few.
