That looks great! Do you ever make whiskey sauce? This recipe says double boiler, but it can be done in the microwave.

INGREDIENTS:
* 4 tablespoons butter, softened
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1 egg, beaten
* 2 tablespoons whiskey, Bourbon, or brandy, or a little more

PREPARATION:
Cream butter and sugar together; blend in the beaten egg. Put mixture in top of a double boiler over gently boiling water and stir until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in whiskey, Bourbon, or brandy.

sure! it's by jane doerfer, in "going solo in the kitchen" (I double it, so that i can have leftovers. i'd say that doubling the below feeds 4. i add roughly 4 cups of bread when doubling, not 3. )

2 tbsp butter
1.5 c. coarsely torn pieces of leftover bread (like french bread)
1 c. milk
1 egg
2-3 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tbsp dark rum or bourbon (optional. i also double this! hah!)

heat the butter in a frying pan and slowly cook the bread in it, tossing frequently. place bread in a buttered baking dish. beat milk, egg and sugar together. add vanilla and rum, pour over the bread, and toss lightly. let sit for 5 minutes. bake in a 350 degree oven for 25-35 minutes. remove when a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. the top will puff up (pictured) and fall slightly as it cools. let sit for 15 minutes (*GOOD LUCK) before serving with heavy cream or ice cream, if you wish.

she also has variations where you throw in fruits or bananas, but trust me it's the best just like this.

This looks wonderful...

My mom used to make it (no alcohol that I can remember), but it always included chocolate chips. I like the idea of serving it with heavy cream or ice cream.
I'm salivating.
