Lady Justice Close Up
Her name is "She" and the name was taken from the book titled the same "She" by Kobi Yamada.
"She ran head where there were no paths. Celebrate her bravery." "She" was a gift I bought to celebrate my graduation from law school. The painting was done by local artist, Laura Laforge. Of all that is special about her, I love that "She" is a brown woman, like me. Most black women in art are singing in a jazz club, are very afro-centric, carrying bowls on their heads or suckling children at their breasts. We are much more beautiful and diverse and should be represented as the individuals that we are. Would you like to comment?Sign up for a free account, or sign in (if you're already a member). |
