I'm looking all napoleonic trying to hold it closed, sort of, because I still can't find grosgrain to stabilize the front, or a seperating zipper the right colour. Once I get it though - this thing will fit perfectly.

If you use the grosgrain, then would you put buttons in? I'm trying to visualize it with a zipper, but keep seeing buttons.

What do I know?? I don't knit at all, but I love sweaters!

It is a wonderfully comfy sweater - but I don't know if Paton's was the best choice. I went up a needle size to get gauge, so the fabric is a bit thinner and drapier than is ideal for long wear. It might not last too long...but I will love it while I have it :)

Jen, the grosgrain is supposed to go on the inside band to prevent rolling and to keep it sturdy enough for zipper installation. But if I were to make this again, I think I would consider a different front band and put in buttons, actually.
