Before The Deluge

Before all the wood was washed ashore, a few planks including myself were already on the shoreline getting wet.

If you look around, a lot more came in. Worthing Pier in the background.

Taken Sat 19th 2008 at about 11am.

This composition works very well, Vicky. The shape of the planks complements the wavefronts, in a sort of zig-zag pattern leading the eye from foreground to background. Choice of DOF is effective too. Nice tones also.

Thanks Tony, it's good to receive comments along those lines as I am new to photography (4 years worth of 'vested' interest) and I'll admit my main satisfaction is seeing a slide/print that satisifies me, this is one of those shots; but some comments referring to my composition choices etc. really is very encouraging.

I was only too lucky to get this shot before the wood came in proper and the beach was shut.
