In the town of Staunton, VA you will find this fantastic outdoor living history museum that seeks to educate visitors on the lifestyles of the early European settlers of Virginia. Featured are the German, Scotch-Irish and English immigrants but the museum is still a work in progress and promises to be a very interesting and educational tourist attraction.

They've taken samples of period farmhouses from Europe and rebuilt them at the Frontier Culture Museum. Actors dress up in period costume and take on the roles of immigrants. I really love this way of presenting history especially when you travel with kids. My nephews were so engaged and asked questions, looked around, touched objects. Check this place out if you are ever in the Staunton area. It's definitely worth a visit.
