From the horse's mouth

From the horse's mouth by Vanessa Pike-Russell.
My aim was to capture an image which focused on close-up details of the texture hair of the nose, mouth and cheeks. I wanted to get character without relying on other facial features. I converted to sepia because I felt it enhanced the effect.

Thanks everyone for the comments, scores and feedback. I had a feeling this would be a 'love it / hate it' type of photo. It was something that I wanted to try and I know I can improve on this effort.

@ W.R. van Straalen
Ouch.. 1 impact. I think that is the lowest ever impact level I have received. It would have helped to have had some constructive feedback. That is the sole reason I post my photos to the Critical Masses group. I can accept that a photo I like isn't liked by someone else but would it hurt to give a comment that I can grow from? :(

I really like this shot. I've always loved the incredibly soft texture of a horse's nose and how such a strong and powerful creature can have such a beautiful and delicate side. Wonderful!

I'm so glad you like it nerdvin :)
There were so many shots that I had taken of the horse which were overexposed or underexposed that I decided to play with this one shot and just try to turn a photo that I would trash into something I could treasure. I think I surprised myself with this one :)
