Rose Levy Beranbaum: White Velvet Butter Cake
|
I can't recall the last time I made a
traditional cake (I'm not counting the
Chocolate Heart of Darkness cakes,
neither box cakes)....maybe 2003 when I
made a Lemon Poppyseed poundcake from
this same book?
Regardless, on buying the book, Rose Levy Beranbaum's The Cake Bible, I decided to make the White Velvet
Butter cake first (partly so nobody, ie
dad, would complain about only chocolate
things in the house and also because I
had some leftover egg whites from the
chocolate heart of darkness?).
For the above reasons, I have sort of
documented the process. I'm not sure if
I will bother with other cakes unless it
is particularly different or difficult
or...if I have time.
I never said how the cake tasted.
Marvelous.
It was so moist. Not overly buttery but
... delicate. And I was scared I
overbaked it but I clearly didn't.
I loved it.
I also love guava!
