White Velvet Butter Cake: A slice![]() ![]() I can't recall the last time I made a traditional cake (I'm not counting the Chocolate Heart of Darkness cakes, neither box cakes)....maybe 2003 when I made a Lemon Poppyseed poundcake from this same book?
Regardless, on buying the book, Rose Levy Beranbaum's The Cake Bible, I decided to make the White Velvet Butter cake first (partly so nobody, ie dad, would complain about only chocolate things in the house and also because I had some leftover egg whites from the chocolate heart of darkness?). For the above reasons, I have sort of documented the process. I'm not sure if I will bother with other cakes unless it is particularly different or difficult or...if I have time. You seriously should open a bakery. Lily & Dragon would be a good name. Except all the British would mistake it for a pub.
