Happy Rilakkuma at Mamachari Race

Happy Rilakkuma at Mamachari Race

This past Sports Day (体育の日) I joined up with four of my students and participated in a 4-hour mamachari (utility bicycle) endurance race at Ebisu Circuit, a (most famously) drift racing track down near Nihonmatsu, Fukushima.

Our team, Team Monster Garlic, came in 1st place in the Junior Class (out of two teams) and 2nd place overall (out of about 30 teams).

Beth took this photo as a member of each team was lining up for the initial sprint to the cycles, beginning the 4-hour main event.

I ended up placing 6th in this event.
