I was in Palo Alto a couple of weeks ago. The temps were in the high 50's during the daytime but dipped to the 30's at night. I had come from Connecticut and was very glad I had my down coat with me. Everyone around me looked under-dressed and like they were oh-so-bravely denying they were cold.

I'm heading back to California tomorrow, this time Palm Springs. I am really racking up the miles with my new job.

Another from the outrageous complex in South Carolina (see next photos).

I passed a lot of billboards for this place as I traveled north through South Carolina......maybe up to 100.... and that was only from a part of the highway that this complex's billboards likely cover. When it finally loomed in front of me I realized the billboards had not done it justice. Yes, I already knew there were lots of things I could buy --- leather, gifts, fireworks. I knew I could get gas and food. And I knew there were motel rooms. I did not know there were 2 (abandoned) car dealerships, a car wash, a spa, and several other buildings offering necessities of life. All the buildings were color coordinated and themed to the max, all in the middle of nowhere, and since it was winter, all relatively empty. I knew it had to be someone's "vision."

I spent some time trying to get an image that portrayed this place but it's all about the size and scope and I couldn't get that.
