Flash and direct Sun

Here are we in the direct sun behind and to camera right some as you can see from the blown highlights in the hair.

I shot this with a bare flash as you can see from the hard shadow on the collar but I dont find it very distracting over all. No post was done to darken the background or to brighten her face. I did use CS3 to smooth over the skin a touch, it was a bit blotchy.

D70s experiments

Shooting at high shutter and large apertures in the middle of the day. This was taken about 2:00 PM with my wife in bright light and the batter in heavy shadow.

You can see the heavy shadows from the sun and the much lighter shadow from my flash.
