But never ever forget that facebook is a for-profit company, interested in getting people to use their product so they make money. Yes, facebook is an amazing service that many of us use, appreciate and are grateful to have, but what society *really* needs is a non-profit doing the same connecting and networking, the same way libraries have opened access to information for generations. Libraries need to figure out how to fill this role so our community value is not usurped by for-profits like facebook and Google!
