sobotka beat me to it! I was going to mention the sign as well. What a fascinating frozen moment in time. I wonder if this was a demonstration in support of the Lawrence Textile Strike or if this was afterwards when they (Ettor and Giovannetti) were still jailed. Must be sometime in 1912.

5/1 is also a traditional day for socialist marches, even today.

If you look to the left of the E&G sign, you can make out another sign at a sharp angle that reads "One Big Union" which was the motto of the IWW in Canada as well as the US.
