excellent capture of a strong, talented and
beautiful lady
@steve gobeil don't cry sweetheart lots of
young beautiful woman love older sexy men
like you!
i won't be able to vote on this since some
pathetic DMU admin felt the need to ban me
without giving a reason.
would have voted "delete" - just
not my kind of woman.

i think it is too dark, the whole lighting is
poor - you could get fine pictures of her, if
you punctuate with light/shadows on her
muscles (or, if you prefer, her ass). and it
would be fine to get a feeling of the hight .
just try to add interestingness (mabye taking
a pic of her over a park bench?)
the part i like most is her left hand
sweeping over the panel

This has 10 legitimate deletemes so I'm
removing it from the DeleteMe pool.
You didn't make it into The Safe but I'm
sure all the members of the group would love
to see this girl in their bedroom ... ermm,
sorry, in the U Got Me thread.

@Weinaiko
where is the connection between mac and
brightness (we do not vote for the color of
our computer cases, btw)?
oh, wait...
i think we can hear it every moment....
sssSSSSS... *plonk*
ah, here it is! every demand is cleared
now.
@back to topik: thats bad, liber... next
time ask for her phone number! only for
photographic reasons, of course ;)

@il_scampo: What Weinako was hinting at was
most likely Color management issues.... The
mac tends to handle colors a bit better than
the pc. Even in the mac, firefox sucks at
color management (rocks at everything else
though).
On my screen it doesn't look too dark, but
that may be subjective.

If you use profiles other than sRGB, it
automatically appears bit darker, no matter
the os, because browsers don't usually
support them. I don't know about Safari, but
IE and FF definitely suck.

"[snip] and buy a mac, if he really
thinks this photo is too dark."
what i am hinting at is, that i can adjust
the monitor bright or dark or whatever i want
- indipendent of the used os or hw. if i
adjust the monitor as dark as possible on a
mac, the picture will appear dark too. and if
i use a different os or hw then mac i can
adjust the monitor this bright that i need
sunglasses to look at your picture and i will
get a sunburn if i stay to long in front of
the display. there is no connection between
the monitor settings and the used os.
i don't know why, but some mac users are
tending to annex to their macs on any costs -
no matter of the discussed subject. the same
story you can find between linux/win users,
between divers religions, between men and
women, between you and me... and there is
only one answer to this kind of comments
-> *plonk*
if someone is commenting on a picture (or
anything else), he _always_ will do this in a
very subjective way. he can't evaluate the
object through the eyes of a mac user if he
isn't one of them. he can't do it through
your or my eyes. if someone says 'the pic is
too dark' it is too dark in his point of view
and if someone else says the brightneness of
the pic is perfect he will make this
statement too in his own point of view. there
is no final truth, even if there may be a
statistical trend.
if 99 out of 100 people calls your pic well
illumiated and one says it is too dark it may
be caused of a bad calibrated monitor. or it
may be caused of a unusal gusto. there are
hundred thousand of possible reasons for the
different meaning. and if someone comes along
with a statement like Weinaiko's he will
disqualify himself. it's just stupid and
ignorant.
...just my point of vew...

my point of view : lj_scampo, despite the fact he obviously is a world
class philosopher/opinion
leader/photographer, should tone down on
appreciations about people he doesn't know,
based on comments that were not addressed to
him.
I was just trying to point out, with a second degree comment that apparently was beyond the grasp
of some people, the fact that altogether and
by and large, mac computers offer better
color management and rendering than most PCs
: when I find myself on a PC and get to my
flickr page, most of the time I tend to find
all of my photos are too dark and lacking
contrast, whereas they appear fine on my mac,
and pretty close to the print version. I'm by
no mean a mac fanatic : I use both a PC and a
Mac, but for different tasks.
And for the record, what I find ignorant
and stupid is making insulting and definitive
judgements about people on the basis of a
couple of lines on a flickr thread.

thank you for your high meaning about me, but
i never did write i'm a world class bla bla
bla...
i did comment your "[snip] and buy a
mac, if he really thinks this photo is too
dark". not more and not less. this one
post of you was stupid and ignorant. i never
did say that you (as person) are stupid and
ignorant.
it seems (reading your last comment) your
thoughts and your words in the (first)
comment are two different things - i can't
smell what you were thinking when you wrote
this words, i can only interpret the words
itself. and they are spelling another story
then the one you tell us with your post
above.
if you didn't find the right words for your
thoughts it isn't my fault, even if you try
to let it look in this way...

btw: sorry liber, your pic isn't this bad to
deserve this much off topic discussion, but
at least your comment-counter will grow up ;)

xdrei: The levels are fine. It is exactly as
dark and light as I want it to be.
You may notice that the girl is standng in
front of a huge window on a cloudy day.
Without careful exposure control all you'd
see is a silhouette...

I'm sorry too, liber, but I need to leave one last word to the
kind attention of lj_scampo.
Forgive me about the "blablabla",
but surely, you can imagine I was
outstandingly impressed by the relevance of
your views about comments being subjective...
wow ! I've rarely been confronted to such
high-key kinda thoughts...
And well, I actually DO feel untitled to
leave ignorant, stupid, and whatever sort of
comment I find suitable, especially in the
context of DMU, without having to read
annoying posts in return by self-righteous
people who should be minding their own
business rather than commenting comments left
by people they know nothing about. In other
words, thank you very much, but nobody asked
you for an interpretation of my post.
I would have taken into consideration
whatever complaint coming from liber (who is
one of my contacts and with whom I have a
relatively long history of mutually
saving/deleting in DMU, that also involved
numerous foolish comments, both ways), but
I'm not taking shit from a patronising
"stranger".

feel free to leave whatever type of comment
you wish - and anyone else (me included) can
feel free to comment whatever he want to
comment to. this is an open thread and i will
not ask anyone (and not wait to be asked) if
i can comment or not to your or someone elses
comments. (and as i can see you do neihter,
and thats fine.)
you can be a friend of the pope if you want
- the discussed comment was stupid and
ignorant. thats the start and until now i
don't see any reason why i should change my
mind about this.
can't you find any other arguments then
indignities?
btw: i'm on your contact list too (i don't
know why you did add me, but well...) - so
what?

xdrei; You're right, it is underexposed by
one stop. And that's how I wanted it to be...
I do know my camera - it's that thing with a
long tube in one side and a hole in the otehr
you can look through hanging from my neck,
right?
But now that I tried it, actually the face
looks a tad better with full exposure, so
I'll upload an improved version, based on the
feedback of two delete groups :-) Thank you
guys, here it is:
Well eeeeveryone should buy a mac, as the
first version definitely looks waaaaay better
than the second, on a mac...
